Being a stay at home mum, feel housebound on most days staring at my laptop and constantly cleaning or cooking something! Saying that, holidays are much essential for me to revitalise and re-energise my body and mind! I have a wish list of places that I would like to see and a few places got ticked off already. But there are many more yet to be visited and the list keeps growing endlessly whenever I hear about some beautiful destinations from others!
With Year-round sunshine, luxurious beaches, packed with fun-filled activities and being closer to UK, you could definitely spot Canaries on the top of our wish list. Having already been to Teneriffe and familiar with the weather and culture, Cran Canaria is in our next preferred place to visit.
The best time to visit Cran Canaria
Weather is always a crucial factor before booking holidays as you don’t want to get soaked and
Fortunately, Canaries is a more promising on the weather side but you may not want to end up there in a burning weather! We visited Florida during summer holidays and regretted for not checking the weather and wished we had visited during October term holidays – the season when it is supposed to be a little less crowded and little kind on the sunny side!
If you are someone who usually plans the holidays during summer holidays, expect a temperature of 24 and above from May to November although most times, the maximum temp seems to be 26 between August and October. If you like to escape the British winter, from December up until April, Cran Canaria welcomes you with pleasantly cool nights and warm days with average highs of 22°C with very little chance of severe rainfall.
Considering you get a week holidays in school in February and couple of weeks Easter holidays in April, you might be better off getting some cheap deals.
Better deals on Flights and accommodation
I strongly believe that when it comes to booking cheap flights, you should really be a little lucky as there seem to be multiple deals throughout the year! While the earliest booking seem to workout cheaper, it is not always true! Even the last-minute booking could bring some great deals to your doorstep.
Decide on what type of booking you would really prefer to do! There are some good deals if you book flight and Accommodation together and the websites like HolidayGems are having some great deals for Cran Canaria here based on the Airports you fly from!
Take time to workout what makes it cheaper and try to adjust the days if you could to see if you can grab some good deals. Sometimes, a Seven days package may workout cheaper than a 5 days one when it comes to hotel and if you are booking your flights separate, it is worth to juggle around the options.
Go for an all-inclusive holiday if possible. It may help you to reduce the amount of hassle significantly, as the stress is taken out of choosing restaurants, and the amount of spending money you need to take with you is minimised.
Sometimes the all-inclusive comes with lots of added extras and special discount prices
Be aware of the activities and amenities available in your hotel
If you are booking a holiday for a week or two and travelling with kids, don’t expect to be out and about all days! There may be a day or two when you would just like to sit by the pool and enjoy a few drinks and a lazy lunch while letting the kids play in the pool and entertain themselves in some activities and other facilities available for them.
It is worth to pay a little extra for the accommodation that has childcare and other amenities and activities to entertain the kids.
Booking a hotel which includes Breakfast would come in handy when you plan for early starts and be sure to check with your hotel if they have any discount deals for the nearest/popular attractions.
Top attractions at Cran Canaria that you mustn’t miss
Pick the attractions that are exclusive to Cran Canaria that wouldn’t get a chance to see anywhere else and have them on top of the list.
The Camel rides and Dune Buggying seem to be one of the best activities to do in Cran Canaria which you may not enjoy in other parts of Canary Islands. The Camel Ride is allowed from Age 7, so something to consider.
If you are nature lover and love to capture the beautiful sunsets, Cran Canaria is the place for you. The Cran Canaria info website gives you the best 10 places to get the most adorable sunset pictures.
Roque Nublo: Gran Canaria’s Biggest Icon
This is something to admire at Cran Canaria staying closer to it! You don’t realise just how big the rock is until you get within touching distance. Or how precarious it is: Roque Nublo is right on the edge and you need climbing gear to walk around it.
And of course there are beaches and water parks to keep the kids entertained.
Spend a few hours planning your visit and make a plan A and B for everyday
Although we always wish for everything to go as planned but it may not always be the case. This is especially when you travel with kids. Having a good plan of what to expect during the holidays makes your life easier as you will have an answer every time when you are asked the questions “what are we going to do today!?” What is the plan for tomorrow!? and What’s next!? rather than just replying “Lets see” which might bore them!
If you take a long drive to enjoy some Scenic nature, remember not all the kids love it! So pack some travel games and activities to keep them entertained.
Always remember to check for the cashback sites before booking
And, never forget to check with the cashback sites whenever you are booking your holidays, regardless of by which media you book it! Topcashback and Quidco always seem to tie up with Holiday booking sites and gives you a good amount of cashback on your booking amounts. CompleteSavings is my favourite which gives 10% cashback on most of the holiday booking sites. Refer to our post here that explains the benefits of using cashback sites and gives you an idea of some good and trusted cashback sites.
Have you been Cran Canaria before? Do you have a favourite spot at Cran Canaria? Have you got a favourite place at Canary Islands?
We would love to hear your thoughts.
