Having a history of high blood pressure running in the family, I always try to do everything I can to keep the BP under control but I think…. may be I have over done a few bits!!! 🙂 So, when I was pregnant with DD2, I have always been reported with low BP. And, to add to it, little one is too energetic that she keeps me on my toes on all the time and that has a considerable effect on BP level and it goes high.
Though it is not dangerously low, I need to keep an eye on my BP as I have a fluctuating BP level. When Braun asked to to try the new Braun ExactFit 5 – BP6200 Upper Arm Blood pressure monitor, I was quite happy and agreed to do so as I already have a few Braun products at home and they have always proven to the best. First impressions on Braun ExactFit 5 – BP6200 monitor
- Easy to setup, You are ready to take measurements in few seconds.
- Big, Clear display – Considering the majority of users for a BP monitor, the big and clear display is definitely a plus.
- There are two size cuffs available – S/M and L/XL
- The readings can be stored for 2 persons and you can store upto 60 measurements which is of great help when you have to keep track of your records and take it to your GP.
- Comes in a nice pouch so nothing goes missing.
- AA batteries supplied – I love it when I don’t have to search for the batteries.
What’s in the box
- Braun ExactFit 5 – BP6200 monitor
- Two Cuffs – S/M size and L/XL size
- Batteries (4 AA)
- A BP recording diary if you prefer to write them down.
- Instruction manual
Setting up is very easy. Just take it off the package and insert the batteries and you are ready to use it. When you use it for the first time, you need to setup the date and time. The procedure to take readings is just like how it is usually done at your GP.
- Choose the right size cuff for your hand, apply it on your arm and just rest it comfortably.
- Connect the lead to the LCD monitor.
- Press the start button, the cuff will start tightening and the readings will be shown on the monitor.
- It will show systolic BP, diastolic BP and heart beat.
- There is a little arrow pointing to different colour zones based on the pressure reading with green being normal and read being severe hypertension.
Everytime when the reading is taken, it gets automatically stored in the memory. You can read the memory using the Memory Button (M) and the Average reading can be read using the Avg button (a ECG symbol). The user profile can be switched just by a button, so there is nothing tricky here to stop you from taking your readings from home.
There is a symbol on the monitor to indicate if the monitor detects irregular heart beat. However, unless you see it all the time, this is not something to worry about. This could also be caused my improper positioning. So if you see the symbol, don’t panic, make sure you rest your arm comfortably and do retake the readings again for confirmation.
Braun BP6200 is available to buy from Boots and retailed around £99. The instructions quite simple to follow. There is an instruction video on Boots website which you will find very handy. Refer here
I can’t wait to ask my mum to use and let me know how comfortable she is taking her readings from home. I am sure she will be able to finding it quite easy to read her BP reading and keep her Hypertension under monitoring all the time.
Disclaimer: I received a PR sample to write about how we get along with Braun BP 6200 to take BP readings from home. All the opinions are my own.
I own a BP monitor that I purchased from Amazon, it is a wrist based one. This Braun one looks really good and I know Braun products are always good though they are on slightly expensive side. I like the idea of having two different sized cuffs although I feel it could have been done in one that is easily adjustable to any arm size. Can this be charged from the AC outlet or just used on batteries!? And is it available only in Boots?
Hi John, Thanks for visiting our blog. The BP monitor does not come with the AC Adaptor. Has a low battery Indicator that warns when the battery runs out.
Thanks for the review. The Boots video is quite helpful. I think I should buy the wrist based one if it is easier to maintain as it will be used by my mum. Do you have a review/video for the wrist one. I can’t find it on your website though.

These Braun products are really great, quite expensive but have never let me down. I haven’t so far used a healthcare product but own a few styling kits and they are wonderful. Never know they do BP monitors as well as I have seen only styling products and thermometers from them.
