We only think about Football when we hear about Premier League, but I recently discovered that other than sports, and with/without the help of Sports, they do something interesting as being “Premier League Primary Stars”
Premier League Primary stars focuses on helping children to:
• Be ambitious – work hard and never give up on their goals
• Be inspiring – set a great example to others
• Be connected –work well with others and in a team
• Be fair – treat people equally and think of others
Premier League Primary Stars – What is it all about!?
Premier League Primary Stars is a Educational programme that encourages children towards learning and influence the interest while tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair-play. It makes use of the inspiration on Premier League and professional football clubs and helps children learn through sports!
This programme is available to all the primary schools in England and Wales and the professional football club staff work with teachers to deliver fun, educational sessions in a range of subjects within local partner schools.
Premier League Primary Stars was launched in March 2017 and has already been helping more than 10,000 primary schools in England and Wales.
Premier League Primary Stars – One Year ON Event!
As my daughters school haven’t participated in their Educational programme yet, I hardly knew anything about the programme until I received an invite to their “Premier League Primary Stars – One Year On Event”. This was the perfect opportunity for me to learn more about the programme, listen to what they have achieved in the last year and to see how I could with their future plans.
There was lot of interesting topics discussed at the event like what inspired Premier League to start this programme, what are their goals, how did they achieve it in the last year, How they helped schools and children to get motivated to learn and their future plans!
How does the programme work?
Here is a short promotional video from Premier League Primary Stars that explains how this programme is being successfully reaching schools and children. This video gave me Goose bumps and hope it inspires you too and motivate you to talk to your school about the programme if they aren’t involved yet!
They run In-School support programmes through clubs running in school and it just doesn’t stop there! The programme also offers free downloadable teaching resources for teachers across Key Stages 1 and2 in English, Maths, PE and PSHE – each subject has bespoke lesson plans including worksheets, teaching instructions and video content featuring famous faces to help motivate.
During the event, there were inspiring topics about how they helped Gethyn, who was lagging interest in creative writing and how he was motivated!
Their work not just ends with school clubs and teaching materials but to bring out the inner talents by running a Poetry competition and named it “Premier League Writing Stars”. More than 25,000 children in England and Wales wrote a poem about resilience for this competition, which was delivered as part of the Premier League Primary Stars English lessons and the competition was judge by the children’s laureate Lauren Child and Young People’s Poet Laureate for London Caleb Femi.
The event honoured the young winners of the poetry competition and released the book “Try, Try Again” that is filled with their poems and a lot other inspirational writing.
Future Plans – Premier League Primary Stars
They aim to support 10,000 primary schools in England and Wales by 2019 (but amazingly they already are far beyond this goal)
They hope that their first national TV advertising campaign, including star names from our clubs, will capture the imagination of parents, teachers and children and encourage them to sign-up to Premier League Primary Stars. They almost reached two thirds of the schools in England and if your school is not one of them, You could help them by spreading the word.
