Do you remember the old VCR days!? They seem to be the antiques now as everything is available to download from the internet and can be watched on different source including TV using the improved technical specs. We are getting more digital and kids nowadays seem techier and highly efficient enough to teach parents on how to effectively use a gadget! Saying so,
Have you ever heard of digital download? If so, have you downloaded a movie digitally before!? Ever wondered how easy it would be to download a digital content!?
Well, to be honest, though I am quite techy and comfortable with downloading digital contents, often I found myself waiting for the DVD release of any movie we fancied. Not a concern about internet security, but just the comfort of sticking to something we know better!
The situation might change by the opportunity I received from Mumsnet Bloggers team – a chance to digitally download the new Ballerina Movie much prior to the DVD release– the story of Félicie, a young orphan from Brittany who has only one passion: dance.
To add to the excitement, we also received a lovely pack of amazing goodies including a Ballerina t-shirt, tutu, and a Ballerina musical jewel box. The little one loves opening the box just to hear the music although her big sister didn’t let her store any of her jewels 🙂
Once I signed up into my iTunes account and given the permission to DD1 to purchase the film, she started following my instructions and started the download. It took a while to download the film as it is nearly 3GB and the kids patiently waited, watching the download, hoping for it to finish sooner! When they lost their patience which is obvious while having a slow internet speed, I let them watch the trailer to get a glimpse of the film! While watching the full movie, they had fun remembering the scenes they saw in the trailer.
Here is the trailer for you to emphasize why it is the good movie to watch as a family…
Ballerina is all about Félicie, who has to fight like she has never fought before and has to outdo herself and learn from her mistakes to make her craziest dream come true: becoming a prima ballerina at the Paris Opera.
BALLERINA is available on Digital Download on 14th April and out on Blu-ray and DVD on 17th April, just in time to have fun during Easter holidays.
DD2 enjoyed learning a few steps from the film and started practicing shortly after watching the movie. She couldn’t stop dancing and was too excited about her new Ballerina musical jewel box too.
Digital download has more benefits when compared to a DVD as you buy the film like Ballerina on an external device, such as your laptop, mobile, tablet, or your living room entertainment system. So, You can watch the film anytime, anywhere as it is always stored on your account and accessible wherever you are and whenever you want. And being released earlier than the DVD version, just like the Ballerina, you would be one of the first few to watch the movie – not paying more!
If you would like to avail the digital download of the adventurous animation but haven’t down it before, here is a quick guide on digital download for you.
- You can download the movie on any device that is connected to the internet and if you have the latest smart TV, it is a bonus!
- All you need is an account to the online store such as iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play, Sky Store and much more and an internet connection with a decent speed and if you are under 18, definitely parent’s permission and a little help from them (if you are a learner).
- We would be downloading the movie on iTunes, so the screenshots are based on iTunes download but wouldn’t have much change to other stores.
When you open iTunes, you will be taken to the home screen as below:
Hit “Store” to start with.
You then search for your interested movie title – for example, Ballerina, Minion etc. Type the text in the search bar and once you hit search, you will be given with the options and titles that match your search.
Digital downloads usually come in two options, High-Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD). The easiest way to think of the two is comparing a Blu-ray (HD) and DVD (SD).
Select the film of your choice and you will be redirected to the screen where you can purchase the movie. Make sure you have the permission to purchase from the digital store and ask your parent’s help.
If the film is already available to download, you will see a “Buy” option instead of “Pre-order”. Once you made the purchase, the film will start downloading!
And, Patience is a virtue, depending on your internet speed it may take a few minutes to a few hours for the movie to be fully downloaded.
Once the download is finished, the film is officially yours! Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy Ballerina! You can sit back and enjoy the movie or dance with Ballerina just as us!
We are far too happy to be one of the very first few to watch the movie even before the Digital release 🙂 and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
There were some awesome comments including ” Wow! That’s a lovely movie, mom!” , ” How do they make such brilliant movies mom!?” ” I can watch it gazillion times and I will still not be bored”….. And there were amazing dance moves too.
We thoroughly enjoyed the benefit of Digital download as we traveled to India which was very unplanned for a Surprise party to Grandad on his 70th Birthday! Luckily, the internet was too good and I carried all my gadgets with me, so we quickly downloaded the movie from iTunes and happily watched it before many would watch! 🙂
The last comment did come true a little bit as I noticed DD1 watching the film again from when the real tough fight starts! The next morning she exclaimed that she could still remember the whole Ballerina film, scene by scene because it’s such a great movie to watch! And the goodie bag keeps DD2 entertained which is a double bonus for me.
The best about digital download is the film stays with you forever as far as you have access to your account so make sure not to loose your password and backup your device regularly.

We really like playing Cranium. Thanks for a great competition!
<3 Once again a reminder of what I am missing in my all boys household. What a sweet little Ballerina you have!
Thanks, Pat! That’s the luxury of having girls, isn’t it!
