Finally, the weekend was brightened and enlightened with sunny (hot) days. We love beach but living in London means the nearest Sandy beach to us is 3 hours away at Bournemouth. The Pebble beach at Brighton though 2 hours away is not something Kids fancy all the time.
Best Plan for a day with 27 Degrees = Beach time
” Shall we please go to the beach Mummy? Daddy, please can you drive us? The kids strarted going impatient and Dad wasn’t really in a mood to drive.”
Mum to the rescue, decision made in minutes, packed the beach toys including sand moulds and spades. Wait, too soon to guess, it is not that easy to convince daddy but off we went to Ruislip Lido!
Rusilip Lido is a cheap (almost free), easy to access, Sandy beach for Londoners. Packed with activities and a lovely train ride around the woods, it is a perfect day out for both kids and adults.

Lido Ruislip is a small sandy beach made by the lake and is perfect place to visit on a sunny day. There are lot of activities for the kids from enjoying the sandy beach, feeding the ducks, a huge playground area and a lovely train ride around the lake in the woods.
Ruislip woods is around 726 Acres with facilities for walking, cycling, trekking (a little) and even horse riding. The Sandy beach is at the south side of the 60 Acre lake. Though I have read in some reviews that the water is dirty and you aren’t allowed to get in the water, We haven’t noticed any obvious signs or restrictions for the entry to the water. So, though there was black water, the kids did get in and had fun.
Somehow, the weather decided to stick to the forecast and there was a slight shower that emptied half of the people and freed the beach but we managed to go under a temporary shade
Remember we said it is a perfect place for the whole day out, so the fun didn’t stop at the beach. We headed off to the playground that had lot of choices and on a busy day like this, it is even hard to get a turn on some of the slides
Ruislip Lido is known for it’s exciting railway service that goes around the woods. So, the dayout won’t be complete if you don’t hit the woods in the train. Train is not expensive though and it is much affordable for a family or even if you go for a single tickets.

prices are displayed based on the day of our visit 07 May 2016 and are subject to change – Please check the prices before your visit.
Ruislip Lido Railway also hosts some exciting activities throughout summer that are suitable for the whole family. So, don’t forget to checkout the activities on Ruislip Lido webpage before you hit the beach. Here are some of the activities that had been planned for May 2016 and I am sure there would be more for the summer months.
It was a great dayout for us enjoying a good time at the little beach, Playing in the park, having a train ride and forget not, the picnic and bird feeding at the lake. We highly recommend Ruislip Lido for a good day out and hope you plan for it.
