Having a child who is keen in Literacy puts us in a position to welcome any word games that encourages her to form words from random letters, and receiving Fletter to review was just a perfect opportunity.

How to play
You have to shout out words at rapid-fire speed from the letters placed before you – before the other players can. Use your brain to string the letters into words and use your voice to claim them! The words claimed by you will then translate into the number of points you’ve made. And what’s the point of the point system if not to separate the winners from the losers?
You needn’t have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious vocabulary to play Fletter; just a keen eye, a knack for quick thinking and a loud (or at least audible) voice. Pitting player against player on the basis of letters and language, Fletter is the ideal game for anyone who loves words, or a riveting dose of friendly competition. And there you have it. Fletter is really that simple.
There are two packs of cards, One in red and another in Blue, each having 50 cards with letters and 5 Fletter cards. It is almost similar to scrabble where you found the words with the letters you have got and the first one to shout out the word gets the point. All the 100 cards will be split equally between the players and the 10 Fletter cards stays in the middles. Cards with the players are then revealed one by one to find the words. The cards that have been used to make the words are then kept aside, face down on a separate pile.
If the same word is shouted out by two players no one gets the point but the cards are still discarded. If the players shout out different words, as far as, a same letter is not reused, the players gets the point, otherwise no points for anyone and the cards containing the letters from both players are still discarded 🙂
Fletter can be played as 3, 4, 5 or 6 letter word game. If the game is decided to be 3 letter word game, it has to be 3 letters and if the player, by accident, shouts out a wrong word or a word with more/less letters will receive a Fletter card which holds a minus point and is finally been deducted from the total score.
We enjoyed the game as it is played with big cards and played the simplest version to make it more encouraging for the little one.
Fletter is ideal to be given as a gift as any small children would absolutely love it.
It encourages younger children to learn words through fun and for older kids and parents, it is about learning more new words!
