Do your kids love reading? My children do, but with a condition – there has to be lots and lots of pictures in the book (obviously means less text 🙂 ). I choose the books carefully so their reading interest (habit!) doesn’t drain.
Wouldn’t be interesting to let them have an experience combining the ever growing technology and the traditional paper books!?
We recently had an opportunity to explore that experience from Mardles! If picture books are a bonus, the books with characters that come alive is a lottery!
What’s special about Mardles
Mardles products have an additional touch from technology – they characters in them come to life!
Mardles are Kids’ Favourites with a 21st Century twist! The Mardles Augmented Reality Stickers, Colouring, Stories and even dress up Masks come to life…. How!? – with the help of the free app from Mardles.
How does it work?
The Mardles characters come to life with the help of the free Mardles app that is available on App store, and Amazon and Google Play store for Android devices. It is a quick download and easy to access. All you need is a smart phones or tablets with a rear facing camera.
Once the app is downloaded, focus the camera on the character and see the character coming live.
Mardles has also released some books with Augmented Reality characters. We received the book “The Egg who couldn’t wait” to try the app. A few pages on the book features a magic wand and when the smart device is pointed towards it, the character in that page comes to life which then can be controlled by an onscreen Joystick.
There is a good range of stickers and books from Mardles to keep the children entertained. We have committed to a TV free school holidays during May half term and these stickers come in handy. Children can also take selfies with the characters which was fun!
Here is a video from Mardles that would give you an idea of how it works
What we liked about Mardles Stickers and Books
- It’s a good mix of paper books and technology that could help the children to enjoy reading while benefiting from the technology too.
- There is a good range of stickers and books available. Full range from Mardles can be viewed here.
- The App is easy to handle and can be worked out comfortably by younger children.
- The children can take selfie pictures with the characters that come alive which is an added bonus if they are creating an album.
- There is a camera button on the screen which helps to take screenshots when the characters come alive – again which can be used in albums.
One thing I have to mention here is that the app hanged quite a few times on my iPhone – ( I have iPhone 7 with 128GB) and was too surprised to see the App hanging. However, I haven’t noticed this on iPad.
There are about 10 different 4D interactive sticker booklets available. Each of them comes with 12 stickers and retail at RRP £4.16 which is definitely a good price. They can be a great addition to the party bags and gifts.
The 4D interactive story books are priced at £6.99 and would be a treat to keep the children engaged.
