I love cooking from Scratch at least one meal every day and the time I spend in my kitchen something I love and hate. I personally believe the taste of anything I cook totally depends on How my mood was when I was cooking. (A good reason for an unplanned dinner outside some days and just easy to claim that ” You know!? Not a good mood! It is going to be a mess even If I cook!”
I don’t worry about the size of the kitchen as far as it is clean and tidy. Infact, I feel the smaller the space you have, the less cluttered it would be. When we moved into the house, the first thing I wanted to change was the kitchen. It was well used and misused.
Our New kitchen is just we all wanted to have. (Still, there are days when we go out for unplanned dinner 🙂 ). I think the discussion for a Go or No to a white kitchen is one of the longest we had in the past 15 years :). Though I was advised by many of my friends that the white would turn yellow as the years go by, we decided to go with White as we felt it would give a great look to the kitchen and make it to feel more spacious. And, Yes, Even now I am happy that it is the right decision we made.
It’s the place where we try new recipes, put other persons into the trouble of tasting and sometimes an easier way of taking a revenge. 🙂
We have an U shaped kitchen with breakfast bar on one side – though it is not actually a typical breakfast bar. As we had less cupboards, I couldn’t sacrifice that space for a perfect looking breakfast bar. But still, there are days I love when hubby decides to have a little chat with me while he quickly grabs his breakfast or dinner by standing just opposite to me while I am busy making fresh chappthis for the family. And I love the concept that I can cook by standing on the other side of the slab and watch my favourite programs – Yes, Ours is a kind of Open plan kitchen.
My other favourite is the roof windows that bring enough sunlight into the kitchen and living room. It has both plus and Minus. There are days in summer when I have just kept them open and enjoyed the bright sunlight and a LOT of fresh air. And there were definitely those dark winter days that made me sad for having such lovely view to the sky but still having the windows Shut down. I love the waterfall sound when the rain pours heavily on those windows and I should mention those sudden unpredicted rainfalls that made me go insane when I forget to shutdown the windows! :(.
We have a threaded swing in the kitchen which is everyone’s favourite place. It is the place where I enjoy the sip of my peaceful coffee morning and relax a bit to read books.
Amongst everything, the best in our kitchen is the decision to install the Dishwasher. I still couldn’t imagine what I would have done if I didn’t have the Dishwasher installed.! Believe me, It wasn’t me who suggested to have the dishwasher installed but was Hubby. In all our previously rented homes, we never had the luxury of a dishwasher and somehow, I think, I got used to not having a Dishwasher until we had one installed. Now! It is my Huge time saver and there is atleast once every day I mention about it to my Hubby and thank to my Dishwasher.
And thanks to Fairy Platinum for being there for our Dishwasher to help us all day long.
