Last weekend, we were one of the lucky families to be chosen as #MorrisonsMum and #MorrisonsDad and yes we were happy to be the #MorrisonsFamily.
The weekend shopping is something I enjoy every week as we go as a family to shop, find the deals and bring something delicious and healthy home. Though it takes longer than expected with the little ones doing their own shopping and picking up their own choices and I end up in putting a lot back on the shelf, it is still a great fun. I feel it helps the children to be more responsible and know what every penny is worth.
Hubby is the biggest fan of Morrisons Fresh food. Though he loves to shop every week at Morrisons, We don’t usually shop at Morrisons because it is not close to our home and honestly I felt it was a bit expensive for the day to day shopping (unless you are lucky enough to find great deals) though I know that they have the best quality food. I think Morrisons overheard my murmur 🙂 and decided to help the families do their weekly shopping at most affordable cost by slashing down the prices on most (I should say, almost all) food. To view all the price cuts at Morrisons Click here.
It is not just a temporary price cut, but a permanent price reduction on most foods. I was surprised to see “a huge number” of “I’m Cheaper” stickers everywhere around the shop. With online shopping getting more popular, Morrisons are making shopping more affordable to families by permanently reducing the price, but Not compromising any quality. So, now you get the best quality food at most affordable cost.Â
Our weekly shopping always includes  (just as in many families), Milk, Juice, Fruits, Veggies, Egg, Cheestrings, Yogurt and cheese and breadsticks for the kids along with other delicious food and snacks on deals that we come across during our shopping.
We have decided to have a meal with Rice and Egg Curry with some juice and then Rasamalai for the dessert. So, when hubby and kids were off shopping the main fruits and veg, I was ticking the checklist for the meal time.  There was a dedicated Aisle for wild foods and I was happy to grab some Indian curry masala powders like turmeric, chili power, Jeera powder and Garam masala powder.Everything on Price cut was clearly marked so I don’t have to browse the shop floor for long to find deals.
Avocados are our family favourite and I was very happy to find 4 Avocados for 99p which I felt is really cheaper. I could never get avocados this cheaper in my usual supermarket. They were of the best quality and very yummy.
Egg curry is a very simple, healthy and easy to make recipe yet delicious with Rice and Chappathi. I will post the recipe soon, Watch this space if anyone is interested in trying out.
So here is what I used to Make the Egg Curry. (My shopping did include more items that we use day to day. )
Tilda Basmati Rice 500g – £2.25
Morrisons Free range Eggs 15 – £2.50
Morrisons Brown Onions (R)Â 1kg – 69p
Morrisons Vine Ripened Tomatoes (R) Min 5 Per Pack – 99p
Rajah Garam Masala 100g – 69p
Rajah Haldi Ground Turmeric 100g – 69p
Rajah Chili Powder 100g – 69p
Rajah Jeera Ground Cumin 100g – 69p
Strawberries and Grapes – Any 2 for £3 on Mix and Match
M NuMe Dairy Cream Aerosol 250g – £1.10
Avocado – 4 for 99p
Delmonte Juice – 1£
Considering that Little Miss M also  eats just what we eat and I don’t prepare anything special for her, the cost per servings was £3.82. (I  used only a little portion of the Masala powder, Four Eggs out of 15). So considering all these, I would still bring the cost down to approx £2 per head.
For Rasamalai I used one 4 Pint milk (Morrisons British Whole Milk 4 Pints 2.27L) which was on offer for 3 for £3.
Here is a video on how Morrisons are helping its customers by the price reductions in place.
We had a great bank holiday weekend with Grocery shopping at a New store (Kids loved it and so as me and hubby). Thank you Britmums and Morrisons for the opportunity to be a #MorrisonsMum and helping us know about the “New Cheaper Morrisons”
Disclaimer: I received vouchers as part of the #MorrisonsMum campaign to spend in store so that I could blog about our Bank Holiday weekend shopping at Morrisons! All the views and opinions are my own.Â
