With a 2 year old Toddler who loves reading everything from her sisters’ home library, I am always happy to find something that would encourage and feed her interest in reading. And of course, any toy that keeps me free for some time still engage her and provide her quality reading time, is definitely my favourite and on my wish list all the time.
Being a great helper to Mums and aids children in learning through play, LeapFrog always stands and secures its place as one of the best learning toys for kids. And we were lucky enough to have an opportunity to review the “LeapFrog Read With me Scout“.
There are two different Read with Me Pals available to suit your little one’s interest. Read With Me Scout who is all green and Read with me Violet – as her name says she is all purplish. When little Miss M was given a choice of either Scout or Violet, She (Cleverly) pointed out Scout and I did reconfirm 2, 3 times in a few hour gaps just to make sure if she did mean it!?. And, Indeed, she did and was sticking to her decision of playing with Scout :). I am one Alert (Little Panicked) Mum Now! 🙂 :(.
What is it all about Read with Me Scout
Read With Me Scout is an interactive cute little toy pup that who can read the preloaded books for you and ask questions. He is a perfect get ready to read toy. He can read from the five included board books and keeps the little one occupied by asking questions throughout the story to help build comprehension and interactive skills.
Scout features 5 interactive spots that respond to your touch.
- Pat his head to hear him Woof and say some phrases…
- Kiss/rub his cheek and hear him say you’re his best friend;
- Pat his back to hear how he feels.
- Press his left paw to hear songs;
- Press his right paw for more phrases.
He is just not a pup for petting and pampering, but also interacts with your children. To read a book with Scout, choose a colour or a number from Scouts’ collar. Scout will then let you know which book you need to find. Once you’ve found the right book, pat his head to continue reading and he will read the story with you. Each book is only 5 – 6 pages long, but each demonstrates a very strong method to get your toddler familiar with numbers, rhymes, concepts and words. Leap Frog definitely prove to be successful in learning through fun.
As Scout completes each page, he will ask the child 1 of 70+ different engagement and comprehension questions over the course of the 5-book set. These questions help the toddler to rethink about what they have read with Scout so far and improves their skills to remember the concepts they have learnt with Scout.
Reading is an important part of each day for us as it gives a family time together and I love seeing Miss M roaming with Scout all the time patting his head and kissing his cheeks. And she is smart enough to know which books Scout can read for her and can identify the books from the book shelf.
Being a great interactive toy and by following not so overwhelming, but rather simple and interesting techniques that will make the toddler and to sit, read and learn something, LeapFrog ticks all the expectations and wins our double thumbs up.
