The girls have been wanting to have a dog for a while and though, honestly I am really tempted to get one, the additional work that will go on my head has been stopping me from taking a positive decision.
So, when we were offered a Teksta Voice Recognition Puppy to review, I thought it would be a good idea to keep the girls entertained for a while and get to know about the doggies until we go for a real one!
Teksta is a new 5th Generation Voice Recognition Puppy and he actually listens and understands you!!!!! This life-like robotic puppy responds to your voice, physical gestures, touch, and sounds. Command your pet to sit, walk, cry, sing, and can even do a back flip! Program Teksta to do even more tricks with an Apple iPad or Tablet for Android.
Before writing about our experience with the new Teksta Puppy, the below video might give you a quick idea about the new (toy) pet we have at home.

So, as you can see from the video, Teksta can respond to range of commands and do a lot of activities including sitting, flipping over, jumping, eating and so on! But before doing any of them on his own, he needs to be trained by you which was actually a real hard job for us!
Our Teksta did nothing other than walking for about two days! We followed the instructions and changed our tone/voice and pitch but nothing worked! Every time when we ask him to sit, he would walk!!! When we expected him to eat, he will simply be barking!!!
So, I decided to give it a go myself rather than involving the kids just to see them getting frustrated, disappointed and bored! It took some time for me to analyse, observe and give the right commands at the right time to Teksta and once I mastered him, I invited the kids to see what we could actually do with Teksta and how patience is the virtue before getting him do the things you want him to do!
Playing with Teksta is a lot of fun however, you need to be patient before getting him trained to your commands. For the first few times it may be really frustrating but you will surely get there soon.
Teksta is surely sturdy as his flip over position seems really hard and he hits the floor quite badly! Despite the hard fall, he still stays strong!
There is magnet under Teksta’s mouth that can hold the ball in place.
We finally trained him to some extent and here is a video of us playing with Teksta.
Pros of Teksta:
- Gives a lot of play value and fun to the kids once he is trained.
- improves the curiosity and patience to make him work!
- Easy on/off with the flip of a button
- Quite sturdy and withstands the hard fall on our tiled kitchen floor.
- Various activities to give hours of entertainment.
What could have been improved:
- Teksta needs 4 AA batteries for himself and 3LR batteries for the bone. Though I can use rechargeable AA batteries, I preferred to charge Teksta through an AC adaptor considering his play value.
- Training him for the first few days was really hard 🙂
- The accessories can be easily misplaced! Would have been nice to store them along with Teksta!??
Teksta Voice Recognition Puppy is priced at around £59.99 and though he looks a bit expensive, as I mentioned before there is quite a good play value. He is available to buy from all the major Toy stores, supermarkets and Amazon. Teksta puppy is aimed at children aged 7 and above but our littleone really had fun!
Do you like Teksta!? Do you own an older version of him!? would you be buying one soon!? We would love to know your thoughts…
e-meet you in the next post… Bye…
