Have you heard of Dementia before?
If not, In simple words, it is a memory loss and you forget things you remembered a few seconds ago. Feels scary and worried, isn’t it?
The word Dementia includes various symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language.
Dementia is most common is elderly people and caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or a series of strokes.
There are many people out there suffering from Dementia and Dementia friendly communities work hard to assure that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community. One of the ways to support the community is to become a “Dementia friend”
Being a Dementia friend for more than an year and volunteering whenever I can, I would be more than happy to get someone on board with me to help the community.
What do you do as a Dementia friend!
Simple – You just be a good friend to someone suffering from Dementia and help them with all you can to enjoy the days and feel comfortable in wherever they go. Just be more understandable that they do forget things and be patient with them and help others understand the situation of someone suffering with Dementia.
They need help is everyday activities even in washing and bathing, shopping and playing and even sometimes feeding them at right times.
When someone has dementia, it’s important that they remain as fit & healthy as possible – both physically & mentally
There are also other businesses like Active-Minds supporting and helping people with Dementia. They develop many activity products to help support people with Dementia to lead a very active, engaging and fulling lives – enjoying activities that are meaningful to them.
