Lake District – The name says about it. But don’t just think only about the land filled with Lakes. It’s more than that. It’s something that would leave you with beautiful memories, a mesmerising place surrounded by water, mountains and forests.
We had been to Lake District quite a few times – A good getaway from the busy life in the centre of London. It is quite a long drive for us, but we prefer to drive (it’s usually hubby who drives for such trips. I will just be a guide and a Human SatNAV reading him the directions except when he is really tired and doesn’t like to take a break, I would be driving under his strict instructions. ) We usually head to the Lake District during long weekends and spread our plans to fit us comfortably between site seeing, just relaxing and indeed something for the kids.
The last time when we had been to the Lake District, We rented a Cottage at Coniston. It is a beautiful, small village in Cumbria, quiet enough to get you into the perfect holiday mood. You usually are lucky to get a beautiful Cottage to rent at a good price if you book a little in advance.
Our recent visit was planned for three days. The main attractions in the Lake District are the Lakes and the mountain Passes. Just so beautiful that you will be carried away. There are places that you can never miss in every visit to the Lake District.
Ullswater Steamers => An attraction for the whole family. Sure the kids will never say No for Cruise. Ullswater ‘Steamers’ create the perfect opportunity to combine a lake cruise with some of the most famous and spectacular walks in the Lake District
Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway: It is the most enthusiastic ride the children enjoyed. If you are planning your holiday as a family holiday with kids, it is something you must take the kids to enjoy the ultimate hill ride. Just like how Thomas and his friends look.
Windermere Lake The most beautiful Lake that you should definitely plan to visit. You can enjoy the Cruise ride. Spread about ten and a half miles long and 219 feet deep, Windermere lake is the England’s largest lake. You are guaranteed to enjoy the scenic beauty during your Cruise ride, so don’t miss it. There are beautiful cottages to stay in Windermere itself based on your budget.
Ingleton Falls It is a circular walk with 16 waterfalls. But I bet, you wouldn’t feel how long you have walked. It brings you the feel of walking through the pile of trees on a high mountain with the sizzling sound of running water.
And that’s not it. You have a lovely drive through the mountains with the spectacular view of Hardknott pass and Kirkstone Pass. Coniston Water is another attraction that you should consider.
