ZHU ZHU PETS – REVIEW

If you are a regular reader to our blog, you might know how much the children love the Pets. We don’t have a real one but do have some adorable toy pets at home that we look after everyday. 

We had dogs and cats but never had a hamster until we were sent a couple from Zhu Zhu pets range.

We received the following from the range

• Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster – Chunk
• Zhu Zhu Pets Adventure Ball 
• Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster House Playset

The Zhu Zhu pets Hamster Chunk can make sounds and moves around adorably. He needs 3 AAA batteries which is supplied so you are ready to play as soon as he is out of the box. 

The Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster House Playset comes with another pet Hamster, Winkie. Winkie loves to be inside his tube house! The only thing he loves more is using his tunnel and slide. Watch as he runs up the Hamster House tunnel, then scurries down the spiral slide. There’s room for more than just Winkie inside the hamster house, collect all of the adorable Zhus Hamsters! (sold separately)

Honestly, I found it very difficult to build the hamster playset. The set comes with 1 Hamster, the Winkie , 1 room, 1 spiral slide and a tunnel. The instructions are not that useful and you just have to go with your own idea and thoughts. I wish the instructions could have been more colourful and much detailed explaining the pieces and exactly pointing out where they go. 

The pieces are just click and connect and once connected they seem to stay together. The hamster needs  2 x AAA  batteries that is included.

The room has three opening and two of them can be blocked with the stoppers so the Winkie finds the way through the tunnel. He can climb up, slide down and turn around if blocked.

The Adventure Ball comes in two parts and can be clicked together. There are clear markings on both parts which helps to fix the halves together. There is a small window to put the hamster in. It was quite tricky to get it working on the first few goes as once the hamster flips back, it stops moving. 

To make it work, hold the hamster in hand, press its back and quickly close the lid and let it go. Keep the ball in upright position with the mouth/hole on the top so even if the hamster moves it won’t flip back.

We also received another hamster, Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster – Chunk who is blue in colour and makes the same noises and movements. There are more to collect –  Mr. Squiggles, Roxie, Num Nums and the rest of the gang and let the fun times roll. 

Kids love them. The only problem is the playset is too long and needs to be stored at some place to kee it ready for playing at anytime. Though it can be dismantled, considering the time it would take to reassemble and as they are plastic, it is better to keep them in their playroom as assembled.
